Manitoulin high school youth charged (Manitoulin, Ont.) – Manitoulin OPP have charged a Manitoulin High school youth with trafficking in a controlled substance and a public school youth with possession of a controlled substance.

(Manitoulin, Ont.) – Manitoulin OPP have charged a Manitoulin High school youth with trafficking in a controlled substance and a public school youth with possession of a controlled substance.

On Monday 08th November 2004 at 3:30 p.m. Manitoulin OPP received a call from a staff member of one of the public schools on Manitoulin reporting an alleged drug transaction between a high school youth and a public school youth on public school property.

Constable Robert Manley responded and after an investigation a 13-year-old Manitoulin youth was arrested and a quantity of marijuana and paraphernalia was seized.

The youth has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and was released to the custody of a parent.

He is to appear in Gore Bay Youth Court to answer to the said charge.

Later during the investigation a 16-year-old high school youth was arrested and charged for the offense of trafficking in a controlled substance.

This youth is scheduled to appear in Gore Bay Youth Court to answer to the said charge.

The youths cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act

Minor injuries in early-morning collision

Heyden, Ont. - A Goulais River woman received minor injuries this morning after her mini van rolled over into the ditch.

At about 5 a.m. this morning OPP received a call of a van on its roof in the ditch on Highway 556 in Heyden.

Investigation has indicated that the driver swerved to avoid a moose on the roadway and went into the ditch.

The thirty-two-year-old Goulais River woman received minor injuries in the collision.

No charges have been laid in the crash.

Road closure

The OPP (Parry Sound) would like to advise the motoring public that as a result of a Transport Tractor that has rolled over, Highway 69 at the South entrance of Highway 141 will be closed for the next couple of hours.
