Traffic check finds parole violator with stolen vehicle

Batchawana, Ont. - A routine check of a vehicle early this morning by a Sault Ste Marie OPP officer found the sole occupant to be wanted and driving a stolen vehicle.

At about 3:30 this morning an officer with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment checked a pickup truck on Highway 17 in the Batchawana area.

The check indicated that the licence plates on the vehicle were stolen in Thunder Bay and the pickup truck was stolen in Edmonton.

The driver was arrested and gave the officer a false name.

Further investigation into the matter indicated that the man was actually a parole violator from British Columbia

Twenty-seven-year-old Trevor Norman TUCKER of no fixed address is presently in OPP custody for parole violation.

He will appear in Sault Ste Marie bail court this morning to face a variety of other criminal charges related to the stolen vehicle and giving a false name to police.
