ATV CRASH SENDS TWO DRIVERS TO HOSPITAL

(Batchawana Bay, Ont.) A crash between two ATV’s on a bush road last night sent both drivers to Sault Area Hospital.

Last night at about 6:00 p.m. a man and his grandson were traveling on separate ATV’s on Tri-bag Mine Road not far from Hwy 17 in Batchawana Bay. They came upon a large waterhole covering the entire roadway. Each ATV went around the waterhole in separate directions. As they came to the other side of the waterhole, the ATV’s unintentionally struck each other. The ATV that the grandfather was on went off the roadway and rolled over. The driver was thrown from the ATV and he hit a tree.

The grandson managed to upright the ATV and the two were able to ride a short distance to a house. Both were taken to Sault Area Hospital by ambulance. The fifty four year old grandfather was treated for what is suspected to be broken ribs. The twelve year old grandson was treated and released.

No charges have been laid in the crash.
