TELL US ABOUT YOUR CROSS

Searchmont, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to the 3000 block of Hwy 556 near Searchmont after a property owner found a cross on his property.

Yesterday at about 12:00 noon the property owner found a black cross made of welded steel on his property near the end of his driveway. The property owner is not aware of any tragic incident in that area over the past many years that may cause someone to put the cross on his property.

The cross is about three feet high and is made of thin, two-inch wide steel. It appears that it was freshly painted with black paint. It has a few common religious words on each sections of the cross but nothing that would suggest a satanic or cult type situation. If this is your cross, or you know who and why it was placed in that location, please call the OPP in Sault Ste Marie.

MOOSE AND CAR COLLIDE

Heyden, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to Hwy 17 at the top of the Mile Hill, about 20 km north of Sault Ste Marie, yesterday after a moose and car collided.

At about 6:00 p.m. last night a Goulais River man was traveling north on Hwy 17 near the top of the Mile Hill when he struck a moose that was on the highway. The driver of the vehicle was not injured but his car had to be towed from the scene. It is not known exactly what happened to the moose.
