Greyhound vs. Bear A Black bear was struck by a Grey Hound Bus on Hwy#17 at Batchawana Bay at 4:37 a.m. Thursday morning. The bus was not damaged but the bear was killed.

Improper License Plate results in Drug Seizure

A traffic stop for a improper license plate, Wednesday afternoon at 12:40 p.m. on Hwy # 17 in Havilland Twp. Resulted in a small drug seizure. When the officer pulled over a 1976 corvette which had a plate registered to another vehicle the officer observed what appeared to be a small quantity of what appeared to be marijuana residue in the ash tray. The driver admitted to drug possession. Seized was 4 grams of hashish. Charged with possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Substance and Drug Act is Yvon Lacombe age 35 of Edmonton Alberta. Mr. Lacombe was also charged with using plate not authorized for his vehicle and his vehicle was towed to Sault Ste Marie.

Damage to a Camper Trailer

A 23 foot prowler camper trailer had it’s four tires cut with a saw sometime between October 6th to the 17th. The trailer was parked off Hwy 556 in Whitman Township.

Sudbury Joint Forces Drug Unit Arrest 3

At 11:15 p.m. Wednesday October 17th Officers from the Sudbury Joint Forces Drug Unit pulled over a car on Hwy#17 in Laird Twp. The vehicle stop was as a result of an ongoing investigation. Seized from the occupants of the vehicle was 15.5 grams of Marijuana and $2345.00 in cash. Charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code are, Keith Henry Earle age 20 of 306 Kathleen St Sudbury, Kala Rose Hiros age 18 of 306 Kathleen St Sudbury and Dale Evan Vaillancourt age 21 of 2090 Elderwood Dr Sudbury. Kala Hiros also faces 4 breach charges. All three suspects were held in custody pending a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie Thursday.
