A series of break and enters into homes in the Upper and Lower Island Lake area have resulted in charges against a young offender.

In late March and early April of this year a several homes and sheds on Clark Road and Old Mill Road, in Heyden, were broken into and a variety of items were stolen.

Detectives from the Sault Ste Marie OPP Crime Unit have been recently received information that implicated a young offender as one of the responsible parties.

An investigation by the Sault Ste Marie OPP Crime Unit Members resulted in the arrest of a 14-year-old Goulais River young offender. He has been charged with six counts of break and enter, two counts of attempted break and enter and one count of possession of stolen property. A small amount of the property has been recovered.

The young offender was not held in custody and appears in court in November.
