POLICE INVESTIGATING ABONDONED VEHICLE AND POSSIBLE MISSING PERSON

Hearst, Ontario - Members of the Hearst OPP Detachment and Northeast Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) have been investigating the disappearance of a Stratford man in a remote area north of the Town of Val Cote.

The search was initiated on the 17th of September 2007 when an abandoned vehicle was discovered in a remote area north of Shannon Lake in Shannon Township. The search to date has not located the owner of the vehicle.

Police are requesting assistance from the public in locating this person.

Missing is Rod Stephen PAVAN of Stratford, Ontario. The subject is described as 44 years of age 188cm (6’2”) with light brown short hair. Mr. Pavan’s 2002 GMC Sierra grey pickup truck with a green rear cab has been recovered.

Vigilant Anishanabek Officer Recovers Stolen Auto Arrests Two

At 8:10 p.m. a Garden River A.P.S. police offer saw a car pull into the Goulais River General Store. He recognized the driver as a person wanted by the Sault Ste Marie Police Service. The vehicle the subject was driving also matched the description of a car seen at the scene of a Break and Enter into the Tunnel Lake Trading Post in Gould Twp. Earlier that morning. The officer arrested the man held him and his passenger there until Sault Ste Marie OPP could arrive at the scene. Arrested for outstanding Warrants and charged with Possession of stolen property of a value not exceeding $5000.00 and possession of break and entering tools is Shaun David Mearow age 26 ( 18 August 1981) of 2101 Mission Rd. Goulais River. The passenger in the car is also charged with Possession of stolen Property of a value not exceeding $5000.00 and possession of break and entering tools is Jordan Morraw age 18 (10 Jan 1981) of 36 Nichol St. Sault Ste Marie. The vehicle being driven had been stolen overnight in the City of Sault Ste Marie. Both me are also facing Break and Enter Charges by the East Algoma OPP for the Break and Enter into the Tunnel Lake Trading Post. Both suspects were held in custody pending a bail hearing on Thursday.
