...AND YET ANOTHER REASON TO ALWAYS BE LOOKING FOR THE UNEXPECTED...

Montreal River, Ont., Remember all those safety tips about driving according to the weather and road conditions as well as reducing your speed at night? Well here is another incident just to reinforce those safety tips.

Last night at about midnight Sault Ste Marie OPP received a report that a boulder had fallen off a rock face and landed on the travelled portion of the roadway. Officers responded to Hwy 17 in the Alona Bay area, just south of Montreal River, to find that the rock had landed on the traveled portion of the roadway. Officers were able to roll the rock, and smaller debris, off the roadway without the assistance of any specialized equipment.

When traveling at night please remember to use your high beams, when traffic conditions permit such use, and always be looking for the any type of objects that may have suddenly appeared on the roadways.
