Toronto-area residents face serious drug, firearm charges following Blind River traffic stop

Unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of ammunition, drug charges and possession of stolen property are among some of the charges laid in the investigation

 BLIND RIVER - On Dec. 24, 2019 at 11:12 a.m., members of the east Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Causley Street in Blind River, Ontario.

As a result of the investigation;

Rakim Alli, 24 years of age from Toronto, Ontario was charged with;

  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition, contrary to section 95(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm, contrary to section 94 of the CC,
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 94 of the CC,
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 92(2) of the CC,
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, contrary to section 92(1) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC, and,
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC

Jason Cunningham, 24 years of age from Toronto, Ontario was charged with;

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC,
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, contrary to section 92(1),
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm, contrary to section 94 of the CC,
  • Possession of Prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition, contrary to section 95(b),
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 92(2) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC,
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 94 of the CC, and,
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibited order, three counts, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the CC.

Louka Greaves, 18 years of age from Etobicoke, Ontario was charged with;

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized Possession of weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC,
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, contrary to section 92(1) of the CC,
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 92(2) of the CC,
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm, contrary to section 94 of the CC,
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 94 of the CC,
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm/ammunition, contrary to section 95(b) of the CC,
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - opioid, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and,
  • Fail to comply with sentence, contrary to section 137 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) - five counts

Brandyn Hunter, 23 years of age, from Toronto, Ontario was charged with;

  • Obstruct peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC,
  • Fail to comply with sentence, contrary to section 145(3) of the CC,
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC,
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC,
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon, contrary to section 92(1) of the CC,
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 92(2) of the CC,
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm, contrary to section 94 of the CC,
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 94 of the CC; and
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/Ammunition, contrary to section 95(b) of the CC

The accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
