PROBLEM WOLF IN THE HEYDEN AND GOULAIS AREA

Sault Ste Marie OPP and the Ministry of Natural Resources personnel responded to a report of a wolf acting strange at the bottom of Mile Hill on Hwy 17 north of Sault Ste Marie.
A passing motorist advised the OPP that the wolf appeared to intentionally run at the side of his vehicle in a manner that indicated the wolf was attacking the car. The animal did not appear to be afraid of anything or anyone.
The animal is described as a black and very large. MNR and OPP officer attempted to follow the tracks of the wolf in an attempt to assess the condition of the animal and take the necessary precautions should it have been located. The officers were unable to locate the wolf.
The bottom of Mile Hill is the unofficial border between Heyden and Goulais River. Although there are no homes in the immediate area of this sighting, homes are located some one or two kilometers away from this location.
