Speeding Vehicle Results in Arrest

(Garden River FN. ON) On the 13th of February at approximately 8:10 p.m. an east bound vehicle registered on Radar at speeds in excess of 160 km/hr in a posted 90 km/hr zone, on Hwy# 17 on the Garden River First Nation. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was found to also be impaired. Charged with Stunt Driving, Drive while suspended, use of plates not authorized, having open liquor in a vehicle and Impaired driving is Darrid David WAINWRIGHT age 19 of Hey# 17 Johnson Twp.

Traffic Stop results in Firearms Charge

(Macdonald Twp, ON) A routine traffic stop on Hwy# 17B in Echo Bay revealed the driver was Suspended. An unloaded 12 Gauge Shot gun was found on the floor of the vehicle. The driver did not have a Possession and Acquisition license. Charged with Unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to the Criminal Code, and driving while suspended is Mathew Joseph EVANS age 20 of 93 Melody Dr Echo Bay

Weekend Thefts from Searchmont Ski Hill

(Searchmont, ON ) On the 12th of February between 10:00 – 11:00 p.m. a purse was taken from a storage cubby at the Searchmont Ski hill. A cell phone, cash and drivers licence was taken. The purse was later found in the parking lot.

On the 14th of February a around 9:00 p.m. a snow board was taken from the rack outside the Chalet at the Searchmont Ski Resort. The board was not locked. Stolen was a 51-50 Dark Green with skulls Snow board. The board had black bindings and a red bottom. Police are reminding all people to lock their boards if you are going to leave them unattended.

TV Stolen in Break and Enter

(Goulais Twp, ON) Between 9:30 a.m and 9:30 p.m. a residence at the 1200 block of Mission Rd was entered by the door being forced. Thieves stole a 2009 46 inch Sony Bravia LCD television (serial # 1757755) along with it’s remote.

OPP, MNR, AND STOP OFFICERS OUT ON THE TRAILS THIS WEEKEND

JOINT ENFORCEMENT

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) – OPP, MNR, and STOP (Snowmobile Trail Officer Patrol) were out on the trails this weekend conducting joint enforcement snowmobile patrols.

11 Provincial Offence notices were issued under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act, and 37 warnings were issued.

1 person was charged under the Liquor Licence Act and one driver was charged for driving under suspension.

While conducting snowmobile checks on Upper Island Lake in Aweres Township Saturday afternoon, one male, 31 year old SCOTT CARNES of 218 James St. Sault Ste. Marie was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Wawa Police Service.
