Over 200 snowmobiles were checked over the past weekend by the O.P.P. resulting in 16 charges being laid. Six people were charged with not having trail permits ($90 fine plus $15 victim surcharge), 3 people were charged with failing to have current registration, 1 for careless driving, 1 for speeding, 1 for disobeying a sign and 2 were charged with disobeying a police officer as well as several other charges.

Police were disturbed by 4 persons who tried to run from police one of whom nearly struck an officer. Sanctions for running from police (possible criminal charges) are much greater than the fine for not having a trail permit.
