OPP INVESTIGATE MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION (St. Joseph Island, Ontario) On January 24, 2006 at approximately 9:30 am the East Algoma OPP were advised of a motor vehicle collision on the D- Line, St. Joseph Island.

(St. Joseph Island, Ontario) On January 24, 2006 at approximately 9:30 am the East Algoma OPP were advised of a motor vehicle collision on the D- Line, St. Joseph Island. The motor vehicle had been traveling eastbound on the D-Line, left the roadway into the south ditch hitting a tree.

Officers attended the scene and located a male in the snow.

Isaac Warren ROWAT (45) of Richards Landing, Ontario was pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of the East Algoma OPP along with two Technical Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene.

A post mortem is schedule for Tuesday January 25, 2006 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

The D-Line west of Highway 548 was closed for approximately 4 hours but did not affect traffic, as it is a dead end road.

The investigation is continuing.

MISSING SNOWMOBILER FOUND IN AHMIC LAKE IDENTIFIED

(Ahmic Harbour, Ontario) – Almaguin Highlands O.P.P. were called in the evening of January 21, 2006 regarding a missing snowmobiler. It was learned that two men from Toronto were at an area resort and went out riding. When the lead rider arrived back to their resort, his friend was not behind. Members of the Almaguin Highlands O.P.P., West Parry Sound O.P.P. and the Emergency Response Team were out searching throughout the night. On Sunday January 22, 2006 Ontario Provincial Police helicopter located a snow machine in the water of Ahmic Lake believed to be that of the man reported missing. O.P.P. Underwater Search and Recovery were called in and at about 10:30 A.M. on Monday January 23, 2006 the body of Hrant Keskek, 51 of Thorne Lane, Don Mills was recovered. Mr. Keskek drowned after his machine hit open water on the lake off the main trail. The investigation is under the direction of Cst. Jaak Valiots of the Almaguin Highlands O.P.P.
