Batchawana First Nation, Ont., Officers with the Batchawana First Nation Police and the OPP were forced to use a tazer on a man last night.

At about midnight last night, officers received a report of a 26 year old man with a knife in a house on the First Nation attempting to harm himself. The occupants of the home advised officers that the man went into the basement with a large knife and the remainder of the occupants of the home were upstairs. The man was an occupant of the home.

Police arrived and found the man in a highly agitated state and still in possession of the knife. Officers used the tazer to assist in subduing the man. He was held in police custody and will be taken for further medical treatment later this morning. So far no charges have been laid. The Batchawna First Nation police continue to investigate this occurrence.
