Lure of the night life results in arrest

Batchewana First Nation, Ont. - The lure to be out at night, especially after court-appointed restrictions, has resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old young offender.

Last night at about 11:30 p.m officers with the Batchawana First Nation Police were on patrol of Gran Street when the officer noticed a 16-year-old male walking.

The officer was looking for the youth for an unrelated matter and stopped to talk to him about the issue.

A computer check of his name indicated that he is on probation and had restrictions about what time he could be away from his home.

He was in violation of those restrictions and he was arrested for breach of probation.

He was searched prior to being placed in the cruiser and officers found what they believed to be a bag of marijuana in his pocket.
The 16-year-old has been charged with breach of probation and possession of marijuana.

He will appear in court on Feb 1, 2005 to answer to these charges.
