Early Morning Impaired Driver (Laird Twp., ON) – Sault Ste Marie OPP officers were running radar on Hwy#17 at 7:40 a.m. on June 21st in Laird township when a vehicle entered the radar driving in excess of 130 km/hr.

(Laird Twp., ON) – Sault Ste Marie OPP officers were running radar on Hwy#17 at 7:40 a.m. on June 21st in Laird township when a vehicle entered the radar driving in excess of 130 km/hr. The vehicle was stopped and the driver who admitted to drinking the previous evening failed a roadside screening test. Subsequent breath tests of 180 more than double the legal limit were received from the driver. Charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level in excess of 80 mg%, is Shane Lynn JARRETT age 27 of 109 Poverty Lane Thessalon. Mr. JARRETT was also charged with speeding and his license was automatically suspended for 90 days. The lesson to be learned here is if you have heavy night of drinking you need at least 1 hour per beverage consumed to eliminate the alcohol from your system before driving.

Report of Suspicious vehicle on Rankin Reserve Results in Impaired Charge

(RANKIN Reserve; ON) As result of a report of a vehicle with front end damage a vehicle was stopped on Frontenac St by Batchewana First Nations Police at approximately 9:00 p.m June 21st. The driver was found to have consumed alcohol. A failed roadside test and subsequent breath readings in excess of 160 mg% has resulted in Raymond SEGUIN age 56 of 77 Allard St Sault Ste Marie being charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level in excess of 80 mg%. Mr. SEGUIN’s license was also suspended automatically for 90 days.

Damage to Matrimonial Property Results in Arrest

(Goulais River; ON) Sault Ste Marie OPP were called upon to investigate the cutting of a pool liner as part of ongoing domestic occurrences between a Goulais River couple. A 68 year old woman from Goulais River has been charged with Mischief under $5000.00. The lady will appear in Sault Ste Marie Bail court Tuesday morning. Any matrimonial property which a spouse or partner has an interest, cannot be damaged regardless of who may have initially purchased the property, without the possibility of charges being laid.
