TRAFFIC COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE

(MacDonald Twp., ON) – Yesterday evening at approximately 4:45 p.m. OPP were advised of a traffic complaint that a green Dodge caravan was veering all over the road eastbound on Highway 17B near Watson’s Road.

Officers in the area observed the vehicle travelling eastbound across the centre line and partially in the wrong lane, veering several times over the centre line.

The vehicle initially did not stop when Police activated the Police car’s lights and sirens but continued moving until stopped by Police on Bar River Road.

The driver exhibited signs of impairment when questioned by Police.

Arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle with over 80 mgs. of alcohol is 34 year old Jason ROSENFIELD of 18 Crawford St. in Bruce Mines, Ontario.

He is to appear in court on the 20th April 2009.

SNOWMACHINE BURNT ON TRAIL

(Vankoughnet Twp., ON) – The owner of a snow machine attended the OPP detachment yesterday afternoon to advise that on Sunday, the 8th March, 2009 he was going ice fishing on his snow machine near Robertson Lake when his sled started to bog.

The owner smelt something burning and stopped the machine. He opened the hood and observed that the sled had caught fire. He managed to get the fire out but the sled suffered major damage.

The owner suffered minor burns to the eye and hand area.

The snow machine was removed from the bush. The cause of the fire appeared to be electrical.
