THEFT OF REFRIGERATOR (Elliot Lake, Ont.) On Sunday the 23rd of March 2008 the East Algoma OPP received a complaint of a possible theft. Police attended and spoke with the property manager of the apartment building on Axmith Avenue in Elliot Lake.

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On Sunday the 23rd of March 2008 the East Algoma OPP received a complaint of a possible theft. Police attended and spoke with the property manager of the apartment building on Axmith Avenue in Elliot Lake. The complainant reported that a tenant had been renting an apartment and had recently moved out. Missing was a refrigerator.

Charged with Theft Under is Douglas CAMERON (40) of Elliot Lake. CAMERON remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

OPP AND STOP OFFICERS CONTINUE SNOWMOBILE PATROLS!

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP and S.T.O.P. officers patrolled trails during this past weekend. 24 sleds and 8 ATV’s were checked with no infractions.

Police remind the public to check the ice thickness before attempting to ride on lakes.

Holiday Weekend Traffic Enforcement

Sault Ste Marie Detachment and the Sault Ste Marie Traffic Unit aggressively enforced traffic violations this past long weekend. The goal of ensuring safe holiday travel was met. Officers laid 132 Provincial Offences Tickets. One vehicle was Seized under the Stunt Driving Legislation. Charged with Stunt driving Contrary to section 172(1) of the Ontario Highway Traffic Accident was Codey Watson age 21 of 251 Church Street Echo Bay. The vehicle driven by Watson, was impounded for 7 days. Two minor crashes were investigated over the weekend. The crashes were a result of black ice. Motorist are reminded of the extra hazards of water and ice during the spring Melt.

Skis Stolen at Searchmont Resort

A pair of Blue ATOMIC Downhill skis valued at $1000.00 were stolen from a rack outside of a Chalet at the Searchmont Resort. The skis were taken between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Friday afternoon 21 March 2008. Anyone with information on this theft or any crime can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Prohibited Weapon

(Blind River, Ont.) Brass knuckles were seized after altercation and arrest in Blind River on Sunday morning.

Officers on patrol in Blind River on Sunday morning came across a disturbance on Woodward Ave. Two males were arguing and shouting at one another. When the two refused to calm down the shouting continued and one male was arrested for intoxicated in Public and to prevent a further breach of the peace.

Officers located a set of Brass Knuckles on the arrested person.

Charged with being Intoxicated in a Public Place and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon is:

38-year-old Perry Joe BOYER of 126 Ella Dr Mississauga First Nation Territory.

Boyer is to appear in court in Blind River on 01 May 2008.
