Airborne rock damages bus, injures two students On Friday November 12, 2004, the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP were contacted regarding a high school bus receiving damage while enroute to Central Algoma Secondary School (CASS).
Airborne rock damages bus, injures two students
On Friday November 12, 2004, the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP were contacted regarding a high school bus receiving damage while enroute to Central Algoma Secondary School (CASS).
The high school bus was traveling westbound on Highway 17 in Johnson Township, east of Desbarats, Ontario when a rock came through the right front window.
The rock traveled down the interior right side of the bus striking the roof about halfway down the bus and then exiting the bus out the right rear window.
The rock was approximately 2" by 3" in diameter.
The front windshield received a hole the size of the rock and the rear window was completely shattered.
Two students in the front two seats were struck by flying glass and received minor injuries. The two students were transported to Thessalon Hospital and released. There were 30 students and 1 bus driver on the bus at the time of the accident. There were no other injuries reported.
The rock is believed to have come from a motor vehicle
