MANITOULIN OPP KEPT BUSY WITH TRESPASS COMPLAINTS

Sunday 18 November 2007 12:20 pm – Manitoulin OPP responded to a complaint of a group of hunters trespassing off Dromy Grant Road in Dawson Township near Silverwater, Ontario. Officers learned that a group of hunters that had been hunting this property for many years on a verbal agreement from the land owner. Another hunting party that had written permission from the same land owner was now hunting the same parcel of land unknown to each other which caused the complaint. This investigation is one of many that the OPP and MNR face every hunting season. Since Manitoulin is all privately owned land with no crown land anyone that that hunts must have written permission from the lawful land owner to legally hunt on the property. Failure to have this document can lead to charges being laid by either the OPP or MNR Conservation Officers under the Trespass to Property Act.
