BREAK AND ENTER TO BRUCE MINES MUSEUM (Bruce Mines, Ontario) On November 18, 2006 the East Algoma Thessalon OPP were notified of a break and enter to the Bruce Mines Museum.
BREAK AND ENTER TO BRUCE MINES MUSEUM

(Bruce Mines, Ontario) On November 18, 2006 the East Algoma Thessalon OPP were notified of a break and enter to the Bruce Mines Museum. The break and enter occurred sometime between September 2006 when the museum closed for the season and November 18, 2006.

Suspects entered the Museum and took five antique firearms that were stored in a gun cabinet.

SEVERAL YOUTH COMPLAINTS KEEP POLICE BUSY

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Between Friday, November 24th and Saturday, November 25th, 2006, the East Algoma OPP arrested and charged 15 youth with several liquor offences. Charges stem from several complaints received regarding youth drinking and causing a disturbance.

A/S/Sgt Dean Ward would like to remind parents that anyone under the age of 16 must be in their parents care by 11:00 p.m. or with the consent and knowledge of their parents be in the company of someone over the age of 16. If a child/youth is disregarding this law, the police can apprehend the individual as a Child In Need of Protection. Police would then contact the parent/guardian and have them attend the station to pick up their child. Until a parent is contacted and the child is picked up, the youth will remain in the custody of the police. Police are taking a zero tolerance attitude to this obvious problem and will be taking a proactive approach relating to enforcement.

Continued violations of this would be referred to the Children’s Aid Society.

POLICE CONTINUE THEIR INVESTIGATION FROM A VERY ACTIVE WEEKEND

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Between November 25th and November 27th, 2006 police responded to five (5) complaints of mischief in the City of Elliot Lake.

On November 25th, at approximately 12:38 a.m. a resident noticed an unknown male youth slash an inflatable Santa in the front yard of their residence. The culprit was later arrested by police. During the evening of November 25th, 2006 the OPP learned of two broken window. One at a local bargain store (value $750.00) and another at a local adult education centre.

The morning of November 26, 2006 police attended a local high school and was advised that sometime during the evening unknown person(s) broke a window on the north east side of the building.

On todays date, police were called to attend a local elementary school to receive a report a broken window on the front door. Damage is suspected to have occurred sometime during the evening of November 26, 2006.

ALWAYS LOCK YOUR VEHICLES

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP is currently investigating 11 separate complaints of mischief, attempt break and enter and break enter to vehicles, in the area of Farquhar Place, Laprairie Crescent, Ste Camillus Crescent, Hergott Avenue and Mississauga Ave.

Offences were committed sometime between the evening of November 25th and the morning of November 26th, 2006

Police would like to remind the citizens of Elliot Lake to ensure their vehicles are locked and valuable items are removed when leaving the vehicle unattended.

ASSAULT POLICE x2 AND MORE…

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On November 25th, 2006 at approximately 11:55 p.m. police attended the rear of a local elementary school regarding a complaint of youth drinking in the area.

On scene police spoke to a 17-year-old female, which showed signs of impairment. The suspect was advised by police that she was arrest and to accompany police to the cruiser. At this time the suspect attempted to flee police and in the process assaulted police.

Charged with Assault Police X2, Resist Arrest, Being Intoxicated in a Public Place and Person Under 19 Consuming Alcohol is a 17-year-old female. The name of the accused cannot be named under the jurisdiction of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on February 6, 2007.

HOME OWNER SCARES OFF POSSIBLE THIEF

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police are currently actively investigating a Break and Enter and an attempt Break Enter.

On November 24, 2006 the victim reports that upon his return to his residence at approximately 11:00 p.m. noticed a breeze coming from the basement. Upon checked the basement it was discovered that unknown person(s) had entered the residence. Taken are several bottles of liquor and snow machine saddlebags.

And on November 25, 2006 at approximately 2:55 a.m. the East Algoma OPP received a call to attend a residence on Laprairie Crescent in regards to a possible attempt Break and Enter. Investigation revealed the family retired for the night when they heard a noise. Upon a member of the family checking the home, he noticed that unknown person(s) had tried to open a kitchen window.

Police are reminded everyone to ensure all doors and windows are locked when leaving your residence or retiring for the night.

WARRANT EXCUTED AND MORE CHARGES FOR LOCAL MALE

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) While investigating a mischief report on November 25, 2006 police observed a male walking through a parking lot on Hillside Drive North. The male showed signs of impairment and upon checking police were made aware of an outstanding warrant. The male was arrested and searched. During the search police located marihuana, magic mushrooms and Oxycontin.

Charged with the following is Christopher BRYAN (21) of Elliot Lake.

Possession of Cannabis
Possession - Other Drugs X2

BRYAN is scheduled to appear in court on February 13, 2007.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO CHARGES FOR LOCAL MAN

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On Friday, November 24, 2006 at approximately 9:52 p.m. while on general patrol, an officer with the East Algoma OPP observed a truck backing up at a high rate of speed. The officers stopped the vehicle. When police approached the vehicle and he suspected the driver to be impaired.

Charged with Impaired Driving and Over is Steven VARGA (48) of Elliot Lake. VARGA is scheduled to appear in court on January 2, 2007.
