RASH OF BREAK AND ENTERS REPORTED

Between Friday November 2 – Saturday November 3, 2007 the East Algoma OPP received 4 complaints of break and enters North of Bruce Mines, Ontario. During the rash of break and enters 1 residence, 5 seasonal cottages, 4 sheds and 6 travel trailers were entered. Below find a list of the break and enters from the weekend, including items stolen.

1. On Friday November 2, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. the East Algoma Thessalon OPP received a report of a break and enter that occurred at a residence located on Old Mill Beach Road, Plummer Township, Ontario. The break and enter occurred that morning between the hours of 8:45 a.m. – 1:30 pm. Suspects stole 3 Long Guns, a digital camera, liquor, and old coins.

2. On Friday November 2, 2007 at 4:45 p.m. the East Algoma Thessalon OPP received a report of a break and enter that occurred on Carpenter Lake Road in Morin Township, Ontario. Suspects entered 3 seasonal cottages, 1 shed and 6 travel trailers. The break and enters occurred between October 27 – November 2, 2007. Suspects stole gas, a radio and a fleece blanket.

3. On Saturday November 3, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. the East Algoma Thessalon OPP were contacted regarding a break and enter on Crystal Cove Road, Plummer Township, Ontario. Suspects entered a seasonal cottage and 3 sheds. The break and enters occurred between October 26 – November 3, 2007. Suspects stole a generator, a compressor, a cordless drill, a trolling motor and an outboard motor.

4. On Saturday November 3, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. the East Algoma Thessalon OPP received a fourth complaint of a break and enter. This break and enter occurred on Poplar Dale Road, Aberdeen Township, Ontario. Suspects rammed a gate to the property and entered a seasonal cottage, stealing 4 long guns and a crossbow. This break and enter occurred between October 28 – November 3, 2007.

Theft Over $5000

(Blind River, Ont.) A man has been charged with theft following an investigation into a complaint of missing funds from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Association.

The complaint was received on September 14, 2007 and at request the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service the OPP North East Region Crime Unit began an investigation.

As a result of the investigation 58-year-old John FROST of Sault Ste. Marie is charged with two counts of Theft over $5000. Frost was a Sault Ste. Marie Police officer at the time of the alleged offense and has since retired.

Frost turned himself in to the Ontario Provincial Police in Blind River on Sunday evening. (November 4, 2007)

FROST is to appear in court in Sault Ste. Marie on January 7, 2008.

ANOTHER DEER HIT ON THE EAST HIGHWAY

(Echo Bay, Ont.) Another deer was killed on the east highway after running into the path of a vehicle traveling on the roadway.

At about 7:15 a.m. yesterday morning a pick up truck was traveling west on Hwy 17 near Echo Bay when the crash occurred. The truck did have considerable damage to the vehicle but the driver was able to drive away.

No one was injured in the crash and the driver of the pick up removed the deer.

TOOLS TAKEN FROM CONSTRUCTION SITE

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) A construction company working on the expansion of a school gym on Edinburgh Road has become the victim of theft.

The victim reports to police that on Friday, November 2, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. the crew vacated the site. Prior to leaving a trailer was loaded with tools from the construction site and pad locked. Upon returning to the site on Monday, November 5, 2007 the trailer door was found to be opened and several tools missing.

**UPDATE**

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP with the assistance of the public has located Tyson LOCKEN (21).

Patricia JONES (15) of Elliot Lake is still missing. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of JONES is asked to call police.

Investigation continuing.

POLICE LOOKING FOR TWO (2) MISSING PERSONS

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP is requesting the assistance of the public in locating Patricia Jones (15) and Tyson LOCKEN (21) both of Elliot Lake.

JONES is a white female, 5 feet tall, 165 pounds, long brown hair, blue eyes and was last seen on November 2nd, 2007 at the Algo Centre Mall in Elliot Lake. JONES was wearing light blue jeans, a dark blue t-shirt and laced up black shoes.

Police learned that LOCKEN was last seen on November 2nd, 2007 at approximately 4:45 p.m. LOCKEN is a white male, 5’9” tall, 190 pounds, short hair. He was last seen wearing a blue striped baseball cap, jeans and grey work boots. LOCKEN also has a cross and star tattoo on his left arm with the name Tyson.

Police believe that both above missing persons may be together.
