THREE VEHICLE COLLISION (Aweres Twp., ON) – Sault Ste. Marie OPP and Aweres Fire Department responded to a three vehicle collision October 21, 2012 at approximately 4:00 pm at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 556 in Aweres Township.

(Aweres Twp., ON) Sault Ste. Marie OPP and Aweres Fire Department responded to a three vehicle collision October 21, 2012 at approximately 4:00 pm at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 556 in Aweres Township.

The driver of a car traveling southbound on Highway 17 made a left hand turn onto Highway 556 and impacted with an SUV travelling northbound.

The car then collided with a truck stopped at the intersection on Highway 556 waiting to turn onto Highway 17.

The fifteen year old male and six year old child suffered serious non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of Police investigation forty-nine year old Peter Samuel ROUSE of Grant Road, Goulais River, Ontario, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Left Turn – Not In Safety.

VACANT CHURCH VANDALIZED

(Batchewana First Nation, ON)A vacant Church (Our Lady of Sorrows) located at the end of Mission Road on the Batchewana First Nation was vandalized over the past week.

Vandals kicked in the door and busted all seven windows in the Church.  Items that had been left in the Church were tossed around.

Empty containers of alcohol were located in the building.

MALE ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE CHARGES

(WAWA, ON) – As previously reported on October 22, 2012 - On October 19, 2012 at 3:07 pm the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were dispatched to a reported robbery at Lai’s Restaurant on Broadway Ave, Wawa.  Through investigation 18 year old Clint CADREAU of Michipicoten First Nation was arrested and charged with the following criminal code offences;

  1. Assault
  2. Cause Disturbance
  3. Breach of Probation

The accused was released with conditions and a court date of December 10, 2012.

On October 22, 2012 the OPP received information that the accused was walking on Highway 17 just north of Wawa and that he was in the middle of the highway.  Police located CADREAU on an old rail bed 300 metres off of Tremblay Flats Road.  He was arrested for 2 counts of Failing to Comply with Undertaking and Breach of Probation.  While under arrest the accused committed 3 more offences;

  1. Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest
  2. Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  3. Assault a Peace Officer

The accused has been transported to Sault Ste Marie to appear in Bail Court on October 23, 2012.
