THE “CAPED CURSADER” CAUSES CONCERN
Echo Bay, Ont.,

Bruce Wayne and his trusted companion Dick Ward would not have been impressed should they have accompanied the Sault Ste Marie OPP on a crime-fighting episode last night.

Yes all you good citizens of Echo Bay, you may have seen the “BAT SYMBOL” in the midnight sky last night because one of the caped mammals had the police on the move.

Actually, and in all seriousness, at about midnight last night a Sault Ste Marie OPP officer and two members of the First Nation police responded to an intruder alarm at an Echo Bay home. While enroute to the home, the alarm company indicated that the alarm was showing 360-degree movement in several rooms in the home. This tended to indicate that perhaps this wasn’t just another false alarm.

When officers arrived they found a puzzled homeowner wondering what was setting off the alarm. Once the house lights and flashlights searched the home they discovered that an uninvited bat was trying to make itself at home without permission. The bat was chased out of the house and the alarm was reset. The homeowner is hoping it was the only bat in the house. No further alarms were received from the home all night

Sleep well good citizen of Echo Bay. The “bat patrol” is in your community!!
