FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION AS A RESULT OF A WASHOUT
(PLUMMER ADDITIONAL TOWNSHIP, ON) - On September 10, 2013 at approximately 7:00 am the East Algoma Thessalon Ontario Provincial Police detachment were advised of a single motor vehicle collision in Plummer Additional Township.
A motorcycle being operated by a 57 year old male was travelling southbound on Duff Road when the motorcycle entered a large washout. Time of day and lighting on Duff Road were factors in the collision.
As a result of the collision 57 year old Christopher Flood succumbed to his injuries at the Thessalon Hospital.
OPP LOCATE LOST MALE - Lake Superior Provincial Park
(WAWA, ON) - On September 8, 2013 the Superior East Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised that a 25-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie was lost on the Orphan Lake Trail in Lake Superior Provincial Park. The call was received shortly after 8:00 pm. The male had been hiking the trail with two others and became separated during the hike. The other two arrived at the parking lot and contacted OPP for assistance.
The OPP Emergency Response Team was called to the scene to search for the male. Just after midnight the male was located in good health and was escorted back to his hiking party.
