Break and enter to golf sheds (WAWA, ON.) – On September 17th, 2011 Superior East OPP in Wawa were advised that numerous golf cart sheds had been broken into overnight at the Michipicoten Golf Course.

(WAWA, ON.) – On September 17th, 2011 Superior East OPP in Wawa were advised that numerous golf cart sheds had been broken into overnight at the Michipicoten Golf Course. Two golf carts were removed and driven on the golf course causing damage to some of the fairways.

Investigation into this matter is continuing. Anyone with any information is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

Collision with moose sends driver to hospital

PENNEFATHER TWP, ON - Monday morning at 6:15 a.m. a motorist travelling southbound on Thielman Road in Goulais River, collided with a moose on the roadway.

The 23-year-old female driver was transported to Sault Area Hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle was demolished and had to be towed.

OPP remind motorists to drive with caution.

Wildlife collisions occur most frequently between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. to midnight.

Drive cautiously through areas identified as high risk by wildlife crossing signs.

Slow down.

Visibility is greatly reduced at night and so is a driver’s reaction time.

Scan the road continuously, shoulder to shoulder.

Always slow down when passing wildlife - it may suddenly jump into your lane.

Break and enters reported

HAVILAND TWP, ON - A shed in the 200 block of Haviland Shores Drive was entered within the past week.

Stolen items include two outboard motors, one 35 hp Mercury, black in colour and one 7.5 hp Honda motor, blue in colour.

AWERES TWP, ON - Sometime between September 17 and 18 a residence in the 600 block of Trout Lake Road was entered.

A CD player, coffee maker, 42” flat screen TV, a drill, a black pellet hand gun, and a brown pellet rifle with ammunition was stolen from the residence.
