Two charged with theft in Batchawana Bay

BATCHAWANA, ON - On June 14, 2017 at approximately 1:15 p.m. Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police were advised of a shoplifting incident that occurred from a business in Batchawana Bay.

A description of the two female suspects and items stolen were observed on video surveillance as well as a description of the vehicle they were driving.

As a result of police investigation, 47-year-old Shelley Lynne Murphy of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. was arrested and charged with:  

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 contrary to Section 335(b) Criminal Code (CC)
  • Theft under $5,000 contrary to Section 334(b)CC
  • Two counts of fail to comply with probation order 733.1(1)CC

The accused was released on Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on July 24, 2017.  

Also, [charges withdrawn] of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. was arrested and charged with:  

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 contrary to Section 335(b) CC
  • Theft under $5000 contrary to Section 334 (b) CC

The accused was released on Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on July 24, 2017.
