Wawa man charged with several offences

WAWA - On Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at approximately 12:45 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment responded to a local Wawa address regarding an assault in progress. At the scene investigation revealed that a male had (allegedly) assaulted a female.

As a result, a 45-year-old Wawa male was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • adult assault - spousal contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada,
  • adult obstruct peace officer contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada,
  • adult causing a disturbance contrary to section 175(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was held into custody pending a bail hearing in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017.
