SCOTIA BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED (Spanish, ON.) – On Wednesday April 15, 2009 at approximately 10:45 a.m. the East Algoma OPP responded to a Robbery call at the Scotia Bank in Spanish, Ontario.
SCOTIA BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED

(Spanish, ON.) – On Wednesday April 15, 2009 at approximately 10:45 a.m. the East Algoma OPP responded to a Robbery call at the Scotia Bank in Spanish, Ontario.

The suspect fled the scene and was contained inside a residence. Road blocks were set up in the Public Road and Colonization Road area.

The schools in Spanish were locked down during regular school hours to secure the safety of the students and staff. All students and staff have now been allowed to go home.

Shortly before 5:00 p.m., one male suspect was taken into custody. Charges are pending.

The investigation is continuing. More information will be released once charges are laid.


ROBBERY TO SCOTIA BANK

(Spanish, ON.) – On Wednesday April 15, 2009 at approximately 10:45 a.m. the East Algoma OPP received a report of a Robbery to the Scotia Bank in Spanish, Ontario.

One person was involved in the Robbery.

The schools in Spanish were contacted and locked down to secure the safety of the students and staff.

The investigation is still in the early stages. More information will be released when it becomes available.


LOCAL MAN CHARGED AFTER BEING REFUSED ENTRY

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) April 7, 2009 police attended a residence on Ontario Avenue regarding a possible assault.

Police learned that the suspect had attended the residence of the victims but was denied entry. The accused allegedly forced his way into the residence and knocking over one person. The suspect then allegedly assaulted another person in the residence.

Charged with the following is Jason Marshall ROBINSON (22) of Elliot Lake.

Assault
Assault with a weapon
Unlawfully in Dwelling House

ROBINSON is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court June 16, 2009.

FAILING TO STOP FOR POLICE AND MORE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) While on general patrol, on April 4, 2009 at approximately 5:07 p.m. an officer of the East Algoma OPP attempted to stop a vehicle in the city of Elliot Lake.

The vehicle was travelling on Hillside Drive North when police, using the siren and emergency lights attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued onto Spruce Avenue where the driver stopped the vehicle.

Charged with the following is Marcel FORTIN (72) of Elliot Lake.

Break of Probation

FORTIN is scheduled to appear in court on June 2, 2009.

FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On April 10th, 2009 at approximately 11:41 p.m. while on patrol, an officer of the East Algoma OPP noted two individuals walking on Spine Road in Elliot Lake. The officer observed both parties enter the roadway to the rear parking lot of the hospital.

The officer located both males and further investigation resulted in charged for one male.

Charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (under 3kg) is a 16-year-old male of Elliot Lake. Police located 7 Baggies of marihuana, a scale and a pipe.

The youths name will not be released under the jurisdiction of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The 16-year-old is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on June 6th, 2009.

THEF OF LADDER NETS A CHARGES FOR LOCAL MALE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On April 2, 2009 police received a complaint of theft from a residence on Hillside Drive South. Police arrived on scene at approximately 11:47 p.m. and located the suspect at 11:49 p.m.

The victim reported that the suspect had attended his yard and had allegedly taken a ladder. Police recovered the ladder.

Charged with Theft Under and Being Intoxicated in a Public Place is Michael Ray NEELY (33) of Elliot Lake.

NEELY is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on June 2, 2009.

MISCHIEF ON MILLIKEN MINE ROAD

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) Police received a call from the complainant stating that unknown person(s) had caused damage to his business signs by place “For Sale” signs on it.

The signs are located on the property of the victim and at the corner of Highway 108 and Milliken Mine Road. All three signs had REMAX “For Sale” signs stapled to them. The signs were later reported as being taken from several areas in the city.

The mischief occurred between April 10th, 2009 12:00 a.m. and April 10th, 2009 at 11:52 a.m.

SHOPLIFTING IS A CRIME

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On April 8th, 2009 at approximately 4:15 p.m. the East Algoma OPP received a call to attend a local grocery store regarding a possible theft.

Police learned that the accused had attended the store and allegedly concealed two items leaving the store without paying for the items.

Charged with Theft Under is Julian Richard KRASOWSKI (19) of Elliot Lake. KRASOWSKI is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on May 5th, 2009.
