(Fisher Twp., Ont.) Yesterday’s snowstorm that forced the closure of Highway 17 North for several hours kept OPP officer’s busy with motor vehicle collisions.

There were three motor vehicle collisions within a short period of time. No injuries were reported in any of the collisions but tow trucks had to be dispatched to all three locations.

VEHICLE IN DITCH LEADS TO ARREST

At 11:50 am yesterday OPP officers received information of a vehicle off the road in the ditch on Highway 17, Alona Bay area.

Information was received from a passing motorist who reported seeing a male and female person leaving a damaged Chrysler Intrepid abandoned on the Highway and when asked if they needed help told the motorist that they did not want Police contacted to report the details of the accident.

The motorist found this suspicious and did contact the OPP and provided the license plate of the vehicle. The license plate had been reported as stolen.

The male and female had received a ride from another motorist and OPP officers kept observation for the southbound vehicle which was located.

Arrested and charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Fail to Comply with Undertaking under the Criminal Code are Allister CORBIERE, 27 years, of McIntyre St., Thunder Bay, Ontario, and Marsha THOMPSON, 26 years, of McIntryre St., Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Both are to appear in bail court this morning.
