COUPLE CHARGED IN THEFT

(Blind River, ON.) – On April 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. a Huron Central Railway employee was working in the Eley Road area of Huron Shores when he observed a two people loading their truck with property that belonged to the rail company. The employee approached the couple and advised them it was railway property and to unload it then leave. The couple refused to unload the property, got in their truck and left. The employee contacted police with a description of the two individuals and the licence plate for the truck. At 12:00 p.m. police located the truck with the stolen property and the suspects on highway 17 west of Thessalon. The couple were arrested and later and transported to the Thessalon OPP detachment where they were later released. Charged are 61 year old Richard AELICK and 59 year old Lorraine AELICK both of Thessalon. They are both charged with:

1) Theft under $5000.00 section 334(b) Criminal Code
2) Possession of property obtained by crime, section 35491)(a) Criminal Code
3) Engage in prohibited activity, section 2(1)(a)(ii) Trespass to Property Act

The couple are scheduled to appear in Blind River Provincial Court on June 3, 2010.

MALE CHARGED IN THEFT FROM VEHICLE

(Blind River, ON.) – On April 16, 2010 at 12:45 p.m. in the Tim Horton’s parking a suspicious male was observed standing near a vehicle. The witness recognized the vehicle as belonging to one of the employee’s, but did not know who the male was. The male then opened the passenger door, entered the vehicle and appeared to be looking for something. The witness summoned the owner of the vehicle who recognized the male. The male left after being confronted by the owner. A check of her belongings revealed a small sum of money missing from her wallet. Police later located the suspect at a residence. Charged with one count of theft under is 21 year old Matthew HOULE of Blind River. HOULE is scheduled to appear in Blind River Provincial Court on June 3, 2010.
