DRIVER AVOIDS TRANSPORT BUT ENDS UP IN DITCH
(Blind River, ON.) – On August 24, 2010 on Highway 17 west of Blind River at approximately 12:45 p.m. a Toyota Echo was westbound just exiting a curved section of the road when an eastbound white tractor trailer crossed the center line headed straight for the small car. The driver veered to the right to avoid a collision but when her car hit the soft shoulder she lost control and went down a 15 foot embankment into the ditch. The driver was unable to exit the vehicle. She remained there for almost an hour until she was able to call for help on her cell phone and family were able to locate her who then called the police. When police arrived the driver was already out of her vehicle and was transported to hospital by ambulance where she was treated for minor injuries and released. The suspect tractor trailer did not stop and police have no other description other than the cab was white.
