SAULT STE MARIE MAN CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED (BLIND RIVER, ON.) – On August 4 2009 at 9:00 p.m. officers from the East Algoma OPP Blind River detachment received a call of a possible impaired driver in the Causley St area of Blind River.
SAULT STE MARIE MAN CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

(BLIND RIVER, ON.) – On August 4 2009 at 9:00 p.m. officers from the East Algoma OPP Blind River detachment received a call of a possible impaired driver in the Causley St area of Blind River. Officers patrolled for the vehicle but were unsuccessful in locating it. At 10:00 p.m. officers came across the vehicle on highway 17 west of Blind River. The vehicle was stopped and after a short investigation by officers the driver was arrested for impaired driving. The driver, 52 year old Joseph NADJIWON of Sault Ste Marie has been charged with being over 80 mgs. Nadjiwon is scheduled to appear in Blind River court on September 3 2009.

PUBLIC ALERT POLICE OF IMPAIRED DRIVER

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON.) – On August 4 2009 at 5:30 p.m. East Algoma officers from the Elliot Lake detachment received information from a motorist of a possible impaired on Esten Drive South. Police received a second call from another motorist advising that the vehicle was heading south on highway 108. Officers were able to intercept the vehicle and the driver was found to be impaired. Charged is 49 year old Timothy BLOXOM of Elliot Lake. Bloxom has been charged with having care or control of a motor vehicle while his ability was impaired and being over 80mgs. Bloxom was held for bail in Sault Ste Marie. Without the public’s help in this matter an impaired driver may have gone undetected.

BUSINESS VICTIM OF BREAK AND ENTER

(Spanish, ON.) – Sometime overnight on August 4 2009 culprits attended at Vance’s Motor INN in Spanish where they were able to gain entry into the building. Once inside they located and removed an undisclosed amount of cash. A Scene’s of Crime (SOCO) officer of the OPP was called and has attended to search for evidence.

Police are looking for anyone with information that can assist them in solving this break and enter or any other crime. FISHERMEN MISSING BIG KABI RIVER

(HORNEPAYNE)- On August 4, 2009 at approximately 5:14pm a report was received that two fishermen had gotten caught in the rapids on Big Kabi River which is 35 kilometres southeast of Hornepayne. The boat and life jackets have been located south of the rapids but the two males, who are believed to be U.S. residents, are still missing. The OPP Emergency Response Team is on scene searching the shoreline and the OPP Search and Recovery Unit will be be attending to conduct diving operations. Further details will be released as the investigation continues.

MISCHIEF TO VEHICLE/LOGGING EQUIPMENT

(WAWA) – On August 4, 2009 at 10:31 am a report was received from the owner of a logging company located on Highway 101, Maness Township on the Algoma Central Railway siding. Over the past two to three weeks person(s) unknown have caused mischief to the owner’s vehicle; a 2008 Ford F250 by adding an unknown substance to the gas tank causing the vehicle to stop running. It is estimated that it will cost between $8,000.00 and $9,000.00 to repair the vehicle.
It was further reported that the owner’s 2000 Peterbilt Tractor was also damaged by what appears to be toilet paper being inserted into one of the tractor’s fuel tanks causing problems with the vehicle’s operation. This will also be a substantial cost to repair.
