TRAFFIC STOPS NETS SEVERAL CHARGES FOR TWO LOCAL MALES (Elliot Lake, Ontario) – February 12, 2010 at 1:50 p.m. while on patrol an officer of the East Algoma OPP conducted a traffic stop on Ontario Avenue.
TRAFFIC STOPS NETS SEVERAL CHARGES FOR TWO LOCAL MALES

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – February 12, 2010 at 1:50 p.m. while on patrol an officer of the East Algoma OPP conducted a traffic stop on Ontario Avenue.

Through investigation police learned that the driver of the vehicle was in possession of a G1 valid drivers licence and was found to be violating the conditions by not being accompanied by a qualified driver and by carrying a front seat passenger. The officer continued his investigation and learned that the validation sticker of the vehicle had expired on September 2009.

Charged under the Highway Traffic Act is Gerard HINKS (31) of Elliot Lake. HINKS is charged with the following:

Class G1 Licence Holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver
Class G1 Licence Holder – Carry Front Seat Passenger
Drive Motor Vehicle, No Current Validated Permit
Use Validation not furnished for Vehicle
Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle

HINKS was also charged for Failing to Surrender Insurance Card under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

HINKS is scheduled to appear in court on March 12, 2010.

While continuing his investigation the officer learned that a validation sticker found on the vehicle had allegedly been stolen from another vehicle. Police learned that the passenger of the vehicle was on conditions not to communicate with the driver through release documents.

Theft Under and Fail to Comply with conditions

NEVILLE remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie.
