Sault Ste Marie OPP investigated one collision last night that saw one person receive minor injuries and a utility pole snapped in half.

At about 11:00 p.m., Sault Ste Marie OPP, assisted by the Anishinabek Police Service, arrived at the scene of a single vehicle roll over on Hwy 17 In Garden River. Investigation has revealed that the vehicle lost control in the snow, slid into a snow bank, rolled onto its roof, and snapped a utility pole in half.

One of the three occupants received minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment. The utility pole supported Bell Canada and cable television wires. Weather conditions were a factor in the collision. No charges were laid in this investigation.


EARLY MORNING SUSPENDED DRIVER

An traffic stop just before sun up this morning resulted in a forty-one-year-old Laird Twp. man being charged with Driving Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario

On Sunday , February 2, forty-one-year-old Derryll McCaig was charged by Sault Ste Marie OPP with Impaired Driving. In accordance with the Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension program, under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, Mr. McCaig was given a ninety day drivers licence suspension.

This morning at about 5:00 a.m. a patrol officer with the Sault Ste Marie OPP stopped a Jeep on Hwy 17 traveling through the Garden River First Nation. The driver proved to be the same Derryll McCaig who was suspended from driving on February 2, 2003.

Mr. McCaig now faces additional charges of Driving Under Suspension and Failing to Produce Proof of Insurance. He will appear in Provincial Offences court in late March to answer to the charge.


BATCHAWANA BREAK IN
Batchawana, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP is investigating a break-in to a camp on Holiday Drive in the Batchawana area.

Yesterday afternoon a neighbour was walking the shoreline when he noticed that a nearby camp appeared to have been entered. The camp appears not to have been used by anyone in some time. OPP are trying to locate the owner of the property in order to determine exactly what is missing.


MORE SNOW MACHINE CHARGES
Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

Yesterday at about 3:00 p.m. OPP Northeast Region Traffic and Marine officers checked two machines in the east end of Sault Ste Marie. Investigation by the officers determined that one of the drivers was operating his machine with no insurance.

Thirty-five-year-old Marty Pigeon of Sault Ste Marie was charged under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act with the offence and issued a ticket for the charge.
