Weather Still Causing Traffic Problems On North Highway

Montreal River, Ont.,

Once again weather conditions north of Sault Ste Marie was creating traffic problems for anyone trying to use the Trans Canada Highway yesterday.

At about 3:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, officers from the Sault Ste Marie and Wawa OPP offices were called to the Montreal River Hill after reports of several transports unable to make it up the hill.

As many as twelve transports were reported to be stuck on the hill and unable to make it over the top. Police closed that section of Hwy 17 until the drivers and highway maintenance personnel could get the rigs moving again.

The highway was re-opened to traffic at about 6:00 p.m. last night. There were no reports of injures or damage to the trucks.
