The South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police has charged a South Porcupine man with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Valid Insurance stemming from a routine traffic stop on January 4 in South Porcupine.

While en route to an assigned patrol zone, an OPP officer had occasion to stop a passenger vehicle for an alleged traffic violation.

Based on investigative steps taken by the OPP, it was determined that the vehicle was not currently covered with a valid contract of automobile insurance and that the permit for the vehicle was no longer current.

As a result, Nicholas WOODCOX, 33, of South Porcupine, has been charged with:

-       Drive Motor Vehicle - No Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

-       Drive Motor Vehicle - No Currently Valid Permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The driver was served with a Summons requiring him to attend Provincial Court in Timmins on February 27 to answer to the charges laid against him.
