FOUR CRASHES IN THE PAST TEN MINUTES

(Laird Twp, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP are warning motorists of sudden freeze up and four crashes east of Sault Ste Marie.

Officers are responding to four crashes in the past ten minutes on Hwy 17 between Town Line Road and Pumpkin Point Road. At this time there are no reports of any injures.

Highways in that area have been wet all night and with dropping temperatures, hazardous and icy diving conditions are expected both north and east of Sault Ste Marie.

Slow down and drive according to weather conditions.

MINOR INJURIES IN OVERNIGHT CRASH

(Heyden, Ont.) A single vehicle crash on Hwy 17 in Heyden early this morning resulted in minor injuries to the driver.

At about 3:00 a.m. this morning a vehicle was traveling north on Hwy 17 near Trout Lake Road in Heyden, The driver lost control of the vehicle, the vehicle left the roadway and rolled over in the ditch.

The driver of the vehicle received minor injuries but did not require immediate medical treatment. The roads were slush covered at the time of the crash. No charges have been laid in this investigation.

STOLEN ROAD SIGN

(Laird Twp, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to a back road in Laird Township early this morning after three people stole a road sign.

At about 1:00 a.m. this morning a resident of the area reported that three younger people in a pick up truck had stolen a road sign off of Government Road, near Riley Road, in Laird Township. The warning sign was to advise motorists traveling on Government Road of hearing impaired children living in the area.

Patrols of the back roads by police were conducted but the pick up truck was not located. If a younger person in your household now has that sign hanging in their bedroom, basement, garage or shed, the safety of the hearing impaired children living in the area is now in jeopardy. Perhaps a responsible parent or adult at the home where the sign might be located may want to instruct the younger people to put the sign back on the post.
