MARINE CHARGES
The O.P.P. Marine Patrol Unit is taking the marine laws seriously. On July 9 a Goulais River man was charged with operating a small vessel on the Goulais River with insufficient number of approved floatation devices (life vests) on board. The fine was $255.

On July 20 a Sault man was charged for not having a watertight flashlight while operating his boat on Ranger Lake. The fine was $130.

The Small Vessels Regulation under the Canada Shipping Act clearly outlines the safety equipment required on various size vessels. If you are unsure of the regulations, you can pick them up at the O.P.P. headquarters on Great Northern Road.
