BREAK & ENTERS REPORTED IN THE EAST AND NORTH OF THE SAULT Sault Ste Marie OPP investigated two break and enters yesterday. One occurred in the 200 block of Watson’s Road and the other occurred in the 2000 block of Goulais Mission Road.

Sault Ste Marie OPP investigated two break and enters yesterday. One occurred in the 200 block of Watson’s Road and the other occurred in the 2000 block of Goulais Mission Road.

Culprits broke into a residence sometime during the day yesterday on Watson’s Road and removed approximately $3000.00 in jewelry and a trolling motor. Details are still sketchy at this time.

Another break and enter was reported in the Goulais Mission Road area. Culprits gained entry to the cottage by breaking a window. Once inside the only items removed by the thieves were a 40 oz. bottle of tequila and 2 bags of chips.

Don’t Forget to Pay!

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) July 25th, 2006 the East Algoma OPP attended a local department store in the mall in Elliot Lake regarding a possible theft.

On scene it was learned that a store employee had noticed a customer taking items and had located a wrapping belonging to one of the stolen items. A store manager stopped the suspect and police were called.

Charged with Theft Under is Alaina BERNARD (20) of Elliot Lake. BERNARD is scheduled to appear in court on September 5th, 2006.

Shoplifting is a crime and it affects us all. People believe this is a victimless crime. This is WRONG; Canadians shoplift over 6 million dollars of merchandise a day. The result of this crime is higher prizes for the consumer. Shoplifting has serious consequences that last a lifetime.

Police Pursuit

(Blind River, Ont.) A London Ontario man now faces several charges from Highway Traffic Act Violations to Criminal Code Offences.
The incident stemmed from an officer operating a hand held Radar unit on Causley St in Blind River just before 11:00 a.m. on Sunday 23 July 2006.

The officer noticed a black pickup truck traveling well in excess of the speed limit and when he attempted to flag the alleged offender over the truck failed to stop.
A Police pursuit ensued and three cruisers from East Algoma were involved in attempts to stop the truck.
The event continued westbound along highway 17 for approximately 13 kilometers, ending in the ditch near Farmers road in the Municipality of Huron Shores.
Two Police vehicles were damaged in the flight by the suspect who had to be tasered before he would comply with Police demands.

No injuries were sustained in the ordeal.

Charged is 45-year-old John Edward CORNWALL of 128 price St. London, Ontario.
CORNWALL was held in custody pending a bail hearing on the following charges:

Speeding (2 Counts)
Failure to Stop at the scene of an Accident,
Flight Form Police (Criminal Code)
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Possession of a Controlled substance section 4(1) CDSA (2 counts)
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance ( Sect. 5(2) CDSA,( 2 Counts)
Trafficking of a Controlled substance 9 sect. 5(1) (i)
Resist Arrest

CORNWALL was released on bail for court in Blind River on the 17 Aug. 06.

The drugs seized were suspected to be Hashish and Cocaine with a total value estimated at approximately $60.000.00
