(Elliot Lake, Ontario) –On July 3, 2010 the City of Elliot Lake hosted a street dance with a little over 2,000 people in attendance.

Through out the night police charged three with being intoxicated in public place and one was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

The night was a great success and the organizers of the event should be commended for their hard work.

Lock it or Lose it

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – Police are currently investigating yet another theft from an unlocked vehicle.

The victim reports that sometime between July 2, 2010 and July 5, 2010 someone entered the unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway on Ottawa Avenue and removed the following items:

3 - Mastercard Credit Cards
2 - ATM Cards
1 - Ontario Health Card
2 - VISA Credit Cards
and $300.00

LOCAL MALE REMAINS IN CUSTODY

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On July 2, 2010 at approximately 4:10 p.m. police received a call to attend a residence on Spruce Avenue regarding a possible threat.

On scene police learned that the subject had been drinking with friends when allegedly uttered threats to one male at the residence. Police were called and the subject refused to comply with police therefore he was arrested and charged.

Charged with the following is Tom GROSSE (49) of Elliot Lake.

Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
Obstruct Police
Breach of Probation

GROSSE remains in custody.

DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On July 3, 2010 at 2:33 a.m. an officer of the East Algoma OPP conducted a traffic stop on Manitoba Rd in Elliot Lake.

Through investigation the driver was charged. Charged with the following is Mitchell Joseph Andrew AMIKONS (47) of Elliot Lake.

Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Exceed 80 Milligrams

AMIKONS is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake on August 10, 2010.

THEFT OF MOTOR

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On July 4, 2010 the East Algoma OPP received a call to attend a residence on Ottawa Avenue regarding the possible theft of a motor off the back of a boat.

Police learned that sometime during the night of July 3, 2010 or the early morning of July 4, 2010 unknown person(s) removed an electric trolling motor off the back of a boat parked in the driveway. The motor is described as being white with a black transom and a white propeller. The motor is approximately 30 years old.

SHOPLIFTING IS A CRIME

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – July 2, 2010 police were called to attend the Zellers Store in Elliot Lake regarding a possible theft.

On scene police received information that a male had entered the store and picked up two items. He then proceeded to the cash, paid for one item and allegedly left the store without paying for the second item.

Charged with Theft Under is Guy LEMIEUX (43) of Elliot Lake. LEMIEUX is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 7, 2010.
