(WAWA) – On June 8, 2009 The OPP received a report from the owner of a Caterpillar D5H Skidder, a Peterbilt Tractor unit and a Kenworth Tractor unit advising that sometime since the fall of 2008 person(s) unknown had stolen various parts from these units. The machines have been parked on Sand River Road near Highway 17 north of Agawa Bay. Items include Lift Cylinders, gas caps as well as various engine parts. Value is estimated in excess of $3000.00. The OPP is asking for the public’s assistance in solving this crime. Anyone with any information regarding these thefts is asked to contact The OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or at Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

R.I.D.E. – As a result of RIDE checks throughout the Superior East patrol area, 100 vehicles were checked resulting in two seat-belt charges being laid. No other infractions were noted.

BREAK IN AT SPANISH SNOWMOBILE CLUB

(Spanish, ON.) – The Spanish Snowmobile Club which services the snow machine trails for the Spanish area was broken into sometime in early May. A club member attended their garage located on Brennan Harbour road and discovered the side door was insecure and the lock missing. A check of the inside revealed their three Huskvarna chain saws with 16” bars were missing along with their tool box.
