Yesterday was not a good day for the deer population east of Sault Ste Marie.

Sault Ste Marie OPP investigated three separate collisions yesterday where three deer were struck and killed on Hwy 17 by vehicles. No motorists were injured in any of the collisions but all three deer were killed.

Two of the collisions saw damage so extensive to the vehicles that they had to be towed from the scenes.

The collisions occurred at 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. with the third collision occurring at 10:30 p.m. Two of the three deer were struck on Hwy 17 on the Garden River First Nation and the third collision was on Hwy 17 about eight kms east of Echo
