Phone Cable Stolen (Elliot Lake, Ontario) On June 28, 2005 at approximately 4:30 pm the East Algoma – Elliot Lake OPP were advised of a theft approximately 10 kilometers north of Elliot Lake on Highway 108.

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On June 28, 2005 at approximately 4:30 pm the East Algoma – Elliot Lake OPP were advised of a theft approximately 10 kilometers north of Elliot Lake on Highway 108.

Approximately 100 meters of copper cable was stolen valued at $20,000. The suspects climbed three poles and cut the cable from where it hung. The cable was then removed from the scene in a pickup truck.

Two Accidents Result In Minor Injuries

(Thessalon, Ontario) On Tuesday June 28, 2005 at 9:32 am two separate motor vehicle collisions were reported to the East Algoma – Thessalon OPP.

On Highway 17 east of Thessalon, Ontario, a 1999 Chevrolet Pickup Truck traveling westbound, hit the westbound shoulder, losing control and crossed over the centerline rolling into the eastbound ditch. The truck received extensive damage. The injuries were minor to the driver and passenger, both of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Both were treated by ambulance at the scene.

On Highway 129, north of Thessalon, Ontario, a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer traveling southbound, hit the southbound shoulder, losing control and crossed the centerline, hitting a light standard on the northbound shoulder. The SUV received moderate damage. The driver and one passenger received minor injuries. The other passenger was not injured. The driver Deborah Gerhardy (54) of Battlecreek, Michigan was transported to the Thessalon Hospital by ambulance and released.

Havilland Shores Break and Enter

Goulais River, Ont., Sault OPP are investigation a break and enter into a seasonal home on Havilland Shores Drive in Goulais River.

Sometime between June 20 and June 27 2005 criminals forced their way into a home in the 1100 block of Havilland Shores Drive. They ransacked the interior of the home and then left the area.

The homeowner spent the majority of the day picking up the mess and attempting to determine just what was stolen from the house.
