As of this time, Hwy 17, east of Sault Ste Marie has been completely re opened to traffic. Hwy 17 from Sault Ste Marie to Batchawana remains closed at this time.

UPDATE ON ROAD CLOSURES

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) – OPP are advising that the Northbound Lane of Highway 17 North from Batchewana to Wawa is now open. The Southbound Lane of Highway 17 from Batchewana to Wawa remains closed at this time due to a motor vehicle collision.

Highway 17 from Batchewana to the Sault Ste. Marie North city limits remains closed at this time due to weather conditions.

Highway 17B East of the city is now open to local traffic.

Highway 17 East (the four lanes) remain closed at this time due to weather conditions.

HIGHWAY 17 EAST AND NORTH CLOSED AT BOTH CITY LIMITS

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) – OPP are advising motorists that Highway 17 North and Highway 17 East are closed in both directions from the city limits. Highway 17B is also closed.

Driving conditions at this time are treacherous due to zero visibility and blowing/drifting snow.

OPP are advising motorists NOT to travel at this time.

Police are also busy investigating a motor vehicle collision between a Pick Up truck and a
Sander on Highway 17 North near Batchewana Bay as well as a 3 vehicle pile up on Highway 17 East on the Echo Bay bridge.

The Ontario Provincial Police advise the public of the following road closure as of this time.

Location: Hwy 17 from Sault Ste Marie to St Joseph’s Island and Hwy 17 from Batchewana to Wawa. Hwy 17 from St Joseph’s Island to Thessalon is open.
