(Elliot Lake, Ont.) March 1st, 2008 at 1:36 a.m. police received a call of a suspicious male entering yards on Dieppe Avenue.

Police located the suspect and through investigation the suspect was charged.

Charged with the following is Paul Wade BENOY (42) of Elliot Lake.

Trespass/Prowl near dwelling house (X2)
Break, Enter
Mischief Under $5,000 (X2)

BENOY is scheduled to appear in court in Elliot Lake April 8th, 2008.

Investigation continuing.


SSAULT CHARGES FOR LOCAL MALE

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP has charged a local male after an incident at a local grocery store.

While an off duty officer was at a local grocery store he was approached and allegedly assaulted by the suspect.

Charged with Assault is Marcel FORTIN (71) of Elliot Lake. FORTIN is scheduled to appear in court in Elliot Lake on April 8th, 2008.

OPP R.I.D.E. CHECK STILL HAPPENING!

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On March 4th, 2008 while conducting a RIDE and a Seatbelt check, the OPP stopped a vehicle at 10:31 a.m. After speaking with the driver, police charged the driver.

Charged with Over 80 is David John ATTWELL (64) of Elliot Lake.

ATTWELL is scheduled to appear in court in Elliot Lake on May 6th, 2008.

Traffic Stop…..Turns Up Drugs

(Algoma Mills, Ont.) An East Algoma O.P.P. officer on patrol had his suspicions aroused by unusual driving finds Cocaine and Marihuana.

On Monday 10 Mar.09 an officer on patrol just after 8;00 a.m. noticed a vehicle in Algoma Mills that was driving unusually slowly. The traffic stop was made and investigation revealed that the driver was a subject of an outstanding warrant. Subsequent to arrest the investigation turned up a bag of Marihuana with an estimated street value just under $20,000.00. Further investigation also turned up a bag of cocaine with a street value just under $12,000.00.

Three persons were arrested for the drugs and several charges laid.

Charged is:
1) Osagie Gabriel OTOIDE, age 24 of Rathburn Rd Toronto, Ont.

Charges under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act:
Possession for the purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance X 2
Possession of a Controlled substance X 2

Criminal Code Charge: Failure to comply with bail conditions

2) Ronald PINE age 21 of John St. Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

CDSA Charges- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X 2
Possession of a Controlled Substance X 2

3) Teresa AGAWA age 26 of Cunningham Rd Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

CDSA Charges- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X 2
Possession of a Controlled substance X 2

All subjects were in Bail Court in Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday 11 Mar 09.

Theresa AGAWA was released on her own recognizance.
OTOIDE and PINE were remanded until today, Wednesday 12 Mar 09 for a bail hearing.

The investigation is continuing.


9-1-1 IS NOT A JOKE!

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The OPP is currently investigating a series of 9-1-1 prank calls received in the city of Elliot Lake throughout the morning of March 10th, 2008.

The OPP Communication Centre received a 9-1-1 cellular call at 1:15 a.m. from an unknown caller. The caller stated they requested police assistance and reported false addresses. Soon another call was received again giving out other false addresses. The calls continued throughout the morning and tied up all available personnel. All calls received at the OPP Communication Centre are taped. Police have seized the tapes and the tapes are being reviewed for voice recognition.

Investigation continuing.
