DON’T CALL

Sault Ste Marie OPP would like to remind everyone that making harassing and/or obscene phone calls is a Criminal offence in Canada.

Yesterday the Sault Ste Marie OPP responded to three different, unrelated incidents of harassing phone calls. Repeatedly calling someone after being asked not to call is illegal.

In one circumstance yesterday, there was both a criminal and civil court orders not to contact the victim. This matter was referred to a Sudbury Police Service for further investigation.

Bell Canada and the police services across Ontario do work together to assist victims of harassing and obscene phone calls. In some of the more blatant cases, Bell can refuse to provide phone service to your home.

Don’t call when you are not supposed to be calling.
