Court Result On Stunt Driving Charge

Cases of Stunt Driving ( Driving in excess of 50 km/ph over the speed limit) are beginning to work their way through our Provincial Offences Courts. On Wednesday the 5th of March a charge from the 8th of October was adjudicated in Sault Ste Marie Provincial Offences Court. Sibanda Nomagugu of Edmonton was convicted of stunt driving. Ms Nomagugu received a $2000.00 Fine and a 8 month drivers license suspension. Speeds in excess of 50 km/hr are clearly a danger to all persons traveling on our highways. With speeds this fast the ability to react to any problem is so greatly reduced serious consequences can result from an incident which at 90 km/hr would be easily avoidable. Sault Ste Marie OPP have laid 5 Stunt Driving charges, while province wide the OPP have laid in excess of 1000 such charges.
