7th Break and Enter Reported on Mission Road Goulais River

Sault Detachment officers were called to a Recreational Property Break and Enter in the 1600 block of Mission Road Goulais River. This property had last been attended too by the owner in November. Police believe this Break and Enter is related to a Rash of 6 Recreational Property Break and Enters which also occurred on Mission Road on the 24th of April. In the most recent occurrence hand tools, a Craftsman 18 hp generator, and a wheel barrow were taken. Thieves are forcing their way into sheds and cottages and stealing anything of value. Most of the stolen property from the first 6 break and enters has been recovered with the exception of a 2004 Artic Cat 4W Drive ATV.

The OPP are asking that anyone with information on these or any crime call Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or Sault Ste Marie Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

Animal Collisions on the Increase

This is the time of year you can expect animals to be wandering across or along the sides of the highways in Northern Ontario. At 11:03 p.m. a car struck a deer on Hwy#17 East near Neebish road. The driver was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed. In another collision police were called to Hwy#17 North in Goulais Twp. To a Tractor Trailer vs. bear collision. No one hurt in this collision but this vehicle also was required to be towed from the scene. When driving at night expect to see animals so slow down and scan the ditches looking for bright eyes. Every year in Ontario some motorist will loose their lives or be seriously injured in animal collisions
