TWO "DOPEY" DRIVERS
Echo Bay, Ont.,

Officers from the Northeast Region Traffic and Marine Unit put their "stealth" cruiser to work yesterday and came up with at least one "dopey" driver.

At about 11:00 a.m. yesterday, the officer was patrolling Hwy 17 leaving Echo Bay, with the unmarked cruiser, when he noticed a vehicle leaving Echo Bay and traveling way above the posted speed limit . While the officer was following the car through the Garden River First Nation, the driver was passing on curves and crossing the center line and traveling at 125 km/h in an eighty km/h zone.

The car was pulled over and the officer could immediately smell the odour of Marijuana. A search of the driver and the car turned up a small amount of the drug. A 22-year-old Windsor man will be returning to Sault Ste Marie court just after New Years to answer to his possession of marijuana charge

In a second incident yesterday an officer from the Sault Ste Marie Detachment checked a vehicle in Echo Bay at about 9:30 p.m
